Glen Eira Community Shed (completed)

The Glen Eira Community Shed Project at Moorleigh Community Village reached practical completion in July 2020.

Project snapshot

Status: Completed
Budget: $1.6m and we received an $80,000 grant from the Department of Health and Human Services.

The new building provides a community facility that includes woodwork and metalwork rooms, a general workshop area, a breakout space, as well as a large external deck. The new facility is an excellent space for the Glen Eira community to develop skills, meet, and support each other, and will play an important role in connecting community members and promoting wellbeing outcomes.

The new facility has now officially opened following the easing of COVID 19 restrictions. The main tenants occupying the space are the Bentmoor Mens Shed who have moved into the new facility during February 2021.

Project Timeline

  • Works commenced on site November 2019
  • Practical Completion achieved July 2020
  • Virtual opening ceremony September 2020
  • Bentmoor Mens Shed moved into the new facility in February 2021.
