Request an infringement review

Appeal a parking infringement

You have the right to contest an infringement. The application should include documents to support your grounds for review if applicable. For example, letters from doctors or police reports.

Appeal an animal infringement

Failure to register an animal could result in an infringement notice. You can submit a request to appeal an animal infringement if you meet circumstances

Appeal a local law infringement

Damage or destruction to, interference with Council roads or failing to obtain a permit under our Local Law are common examples of local law infringements.

Appeal a public health infringement

You could receive a public health infringement if your business fails a health inspection or you have not registered your business.

Building

Demolition consent request - Section 29A

When you apply for a building permit to partly or completely demolish a building, you may need consent to the demolition. This is called Section 29A consent.

Building plan request

Do you need access to plans of your building or property? You can apply online for a range of building plans and documents.

Point of discharge report

Complete a Point of Discharge report for building work that involves a stormwater drain.

Vehicle crossing permit

A vehicle crossing is a constructed pathway that extends from the edge of the road pavement to the property boundary.

Building materials on a nature strip permit

A building materials permit is required when you require to place building materials such as bricks and timber on a naturestrip or roadway.

Skip bin permit

You must get a permit before putting an industrial waste bin or skip on council land. We assess each permit application individually, based on things like public safety, drainage and potential damage to roads.

Work zone permits

A works zone is a parking restriction which provides for a dedicated area on the road carriageway in which only construction vehicles can park.

Occupation of Council land or road permit

You must obtain a Permit to occupy a Council Land or Road to carry out any works or activities. We assess each Permit application individually, based on things like public safety, drainage and potential damage to roads.

Pay your rates

Register for rates direct debit

If you want us to deduct payments from your credit card, register with our secure registration site by entering your Bpay reference number on your rates notice.

Update rates direct debit card details

If you want to change your account or update your card details, we need to receive this at least 14 days before the next debit day.

Land information certificates

If you are selling your property, you will need a Land Information Certificate. This provides information about property valuations, rates and charges raised and any other property related charges.

Rubbish and recycling

Hard rubbish collection

Your household can book up to three free collections (of each service) per financial year.

Bundled branch collection

Your household can book up to three free b bundled branch collections per financial year.

Bulk cardboard collection

Your household can book up to three free bulk cardboard collections per financial year.

Report dumped rubbish

Dumping rubbish on public land without permission is considered littering and may attract a $250 fine. Report dumped rubbish so it can be collected.

Parking and cars

Report illegally parked vehicle

If you see an illegally parked vehicle, you can report it to a parking officer or lodge a report online.

Report an unregistered or abandoned vehicle

Remember that on a public road, anyone can leave their vehicle anywhere as long as it is registered and it is legally parked. Report an unregistered or abandoned vehicle online.

Renew your registration

You’ll receive your registration renewal notice via email (unless specified by mail) in March each year. Note: the email is from a “no-reply” address.

Report your lost cat or dog

If your animal is registered and wearing its Council tag, we can return it to you in most cases as long as we can contact you. Please check our lost and found pet register before reporting your lost pet.

Urban planning

Pre-application advice

Do you need answers to key questions before applying for your planning permit? Perhaps you're unsure about something. Apply for pre-application advice to ensure your application is ready to go.

Planning information request

Do you want to know if you need a permit to run a home hairdressing salon? Maybe you want to build a verandah at the back of your home. If you want to ask a question and get an answer in writing, you can complete a planning information request.

Secondary Consent

If you want to make minor changes to approved plans, you may need to apply Secondary Consent Amendment.

Extension of time

When we issue a planning permit, there are specified time frames in which you must start and finish your development. Under some circumstances, you can apply online for an extension of time if you need longer.

Submitting Condition 1 and other plans

Now that you have your planning permit, you may need to submit plans or reports for approval before the development can start or you can start the use.

Asset protection permit

You must get an Asset Protection Permit before you start any building or demolition works. The only exception is minor building works valued at less than $5,000 and not involving masonry structures and demolition.

Building over easements and drains

If you want to build over an easement or drain, please take care to ensure you get the right permit.

Asset consent permit

We control and manage local roads that are on our Road register and parts of arterial roads from the back of the kerb to the building line, as per the Road Management Act 2004.

Family and children

Book occasional care

If you're using our service for the first time, please complete our Occasional Care enrolment form before you book online. You must do this before you leave your child at our service.

Family day care

To apply for family day care, you must complete our online request. Please see our Family Day Care page for the entire process, from checking for vacancies to being offered a place.

Kindergarten

We operate a central registration system for three-year-old and four-year-old children at 14 community-based kindergartens in Glen Eira. You have the option of using privately managed children's services, early learning centres and schools.

Student Achievement awards

Our Student Achievement Awards program recognises outstanding achievement by students from secondary schools within Glen Eira. Nominations for Student Achievement Awards open on 17 July. All entries close on 16 August 2019.

Citizen and Community Group awards

We offer several citizen and community group awards, which recognise the contributions of Glen Eira residents and groups to the local community.

Volunteer Recognition program

Would you like to recognise a volunteer for their amazing efforts in the Glen Eira community? We encourage not-for-profit community based groups or organisations to nominate volunteers for a certificate of appreciation, presented during National Volunteer Week, beginning on 20 May 2019. Nominations opened on 4 February and closed on 8 March at 5pm. Nominations are now closed.

Community grants program

Our Community Grants Program is our way of supporting your organisation's service to the community. We offer grants through one of two funding streams to help with your project, activity or event. Applications are now closed.

Facility hire grants

We offer facility hire grants to help community organisations, groups and schools to undertake activities across Glen Eira.

Youth excellence grant

Our Foundation for Youth Excellence program recognises young people for excellence in creative and performing arts, education, leadership or sport.

Business

Footpath trading permit

Footpath trading is an important part of local retail culture which enhances the atmosphere of our community. Under local law, you need a permit to place advertising signs, goods, tables, chairs, windbreaks or associated furniture on footpaths.

Mentoring for business

Our Mentor Partners Program provides support and guidance to help you develop your small business. It’s a joint initiative between the Glen Eira City Council and Kingston City Council.

Sounds of Glen Eira is a free music event for young people created by young people, namely the Youth Leadership Team — a group of dynamic young people aged 12 to 21.

Multipurpose sporting facilities hire

We have several multipurpose sporting facilities available for hire in Glen Eira. They're designed to accommodate a range of sports, including small-sided soccer, handball, futsal, basketball and netball.

The Freedom of Information Act 1982 (Vic) (Act) gives you the right to access Glen Eira City Council documents, subject to exemptions. You also have the right to ask us to change or remove incorrect information about you.

Adjoining owners details

Building works can have an impact on adjoining properties. To ensure that works don't affect or damage adjoining properties, you may need to request your neighbours' details for protection works.
