  • Timeline: Works are due to begin in September 2024 and are expected to be completed by end of December 2024

The Glen Eira community values their quality of life, and access to safe cycling routes is a big part of this. That’s why, Council has an important role in promoting and delivering active modes of transport.

We are building a cycling lane to connect Caulfield and Glen Huntly train stations on behalf of the LXRP. Council will deliver the works and the LXRP will fund construction as part of the Glen Huntly Level Crossing Removal Project.

This final section of bicycle path meets a Victorian Government commitment to deliver the missing link in the area’s cycling corridor.

Timeline

  • August and September 2024: Design finalised
  • Monday 16 September to Friday 4 October 2024: Residents side of Queens Avenue footpath, kerb and channel works and cycle path preparation works
  • October to December 2024 (TBC): Cycling path construction

Works and impacts

Residents side of Queens Avenue footpath, kerb and channel works and cycle path preparation works.

Works are due to begin on Monday 16 September 2024 and will be completed by Friday 4 October, weather permitting.

Construction impacts:

Contractors will be onsite weekdays between 7am and 6pm and some Saturdays, where required, between 8am and 2pm. Working hours may slightly vary depending on activities and events at Caulfield Racecourse.

The street will be open during the works, however, there may be temporary closures when construction equipment is being set up.

On-street parking will be impacted for some time, though best efforts will be made to reinstate parking where construction activities allow. Vehicular access to properties will be maintained during the works. When parking is impacted please park your car on your property or a nearby street.

Residents will be made aware of any works impacting their driveway before works begin.

When onsite, please follow guidance from the traffic controllers and signage.

The footpath along the residential side of the street will be accessible during construction under traffic control supervision. However, cyclists will need to travel along a different street during the construction. Derby Crescent is the nearest alternative route.
