Booran Ward — Councillor Jane Karslake, was sworn in on Monday 18 November 2024.
Booran Ward Councillor Karslake has been a resident of Glen Eira for 34 and lives with her partner and her son.
Elected by countback in early 2024, Cr Karslake served ten months as a Councillor prior to be re-elected in the 2024 election.
Cr Karslake has played an active role in the community for many years including participating as a school councillor, a member-volunteer and President of Carnegie Community Toy Library, a community representative on the Caulfield Racecourse Reserve Trusts environment committee.
She has worked in Women’s services, managed a neighbourhood house, and worked in industrial relations for many years. She has campaigned to advance gender equality, public education, and access to community services.
Cr Karslake is passionate about the role and value of local government and its work to improve social inclusion and health and wellbeing.
Cr Karslake’s priorities for Council include building a more inclusive community, increasing community participation in decision-making, and acting on climate change.
