Statement of significance:

This tree fulfils the criteria of:

  • Unique Location or Context
  • Outstanding Size (girth height spread)
  • Aesthetic value

This is one of only a few very tall street trees in Glen Eira and one of only a handful of Sydney Blue Gums planted within a nature strip throughout the entire the Council. This is the largest example of the species as a street tree, with an outstanding height, canopy spread and trunk girth. The tree provides a significant amount of canopy coverage and shading for the area, especially over the roadway, as well as screening from the Skyrail.

It is a highly visible tree from all directions, even from over the rail line and makes a major contribution to the local landscape. The loss of this tree would cause a substantial reduction in amenity for the community and neighbourhood character.
