Statement of significance:

This tree fulfils the criteria of:

  • Outstanding Size (girth height spread)
  • Aesthetic Value
  • Outstanding Habitat Value

This mature tall tree has a wide spreading canopy and significant trunk girth. It is a prominent tree and the largest public or private tree in the vicinity.

The tree is highly visible from the surrounding area and makes a major contribution to the neighbourhood character. The loss of this tree would result in a substantial loss of amenity to the local community.

Established nests were located within the upper canopy of the tree, and as one of very few large mature native trees in this area of Glen Eira it would provide an important food source to local wildlife. Nearby residents have described it as supporting a range of native animals over the years.
