Our history and heritage collection tells our story through objects, photographs and ephemera. Focusing on our relationship with the community, it explores our history before and after the 1994 council amalgamation.
Explore our history and heritage collection
Key items include material related to our functions, including symbols of office, commemorations of civic events, and local records such as maps and plans. You can also view past editions of Council’s newsletters the Glen Eira News and the earlier Caulfield Contact. We've digitised many of these items and made them available on the Victorian Collections website. To view the collection, visit Glen Eira City Council History and Heritage Collection online.
The Victorian Collections website also features the collections of the Glen Eira Historical Society and City of Moorabbin Historical Society.
We are working with local collecting organisations, particularly the Glen Eira Historical Society to make more of their collection available online, so make sure you check back as more material is digitised and made available online.
We are currently working to make the 1995 editions of the Glen Eira News available online. Until then you can access copies in person at the State Library of Victoria. Search their collection and make a booking at https://www.slv.vic.gov.au
