There are great benefits to owning a pet, but it’s also a big responsibility. Desexing is one of the most important things to think about when you get a pet. We highly recommend you desex your pet.
Desex your pet
Why should I desex my pet?
The animal population is a significant issue for shelters and pounds across Victoria. Thousands of cats and dogs are euthanased every year, due to an over-supply of pets.
We recommend you desex your pet to:
- prevent unwanted litters
- reduce the population of unowned animals, particularly cats
- reduce the high euthanasia rates of impounded animals
- reduce the tendency for aggression and roaming
Can I get a registration discount for a desexed pet?
Yes. We offer a discount scheme to encourage you to register your pet. The scheme also aims to encourage the desexing of pets, particularly cats.
To receive a second year free, you must provide the desexing certificate within the first 12 months of registering your new pet.
We also offer reduced fees for trained dogs.
