Report and consent relates to building designs that don't comply with building regulations. Your appointed building surveyor can't issue a building permit until they're satisfied you've obtained report and consent.
Report and consent
When do I need report and consent?
You need to apply to us for report and consent if:
- your building design doesn't comply with the Building Regulations 2018, or
- the building work will impact on community assets, infrastructure or amenity.
In the above cases you should check your proposal against the Minister's guidelines. If you can show that your siting design is within the conditions in these guidelines, you can apply to us for report and consent. We will then approve or refuse your application.
In some cases, different authorities may also need to review your application, such as an electricity supplier, for example.
If you're not sure if you need report and consent, talk to your building surveyor or architect, or call us on 9524 3333.
