Rates financial hardship

We support residents who are experiencing difficulty in paying rates.

On this page

We encourage ratepayers who can continue to make payment (or part payment) of their rates to please do so.

Payment Plans

We encourage ratepayers who are unable to pay their rates by the due dates to enter into a payment plan which would reduce the amount of debt owing.

Penalty interest will apply for the 2024–25 financial year. Interest is calculated from the due dates and rate payers are encouraged to pay on or before these dates.

In accordance with The Penalty Interest Rate Act 1983, the current interest rate is 10%. The first interest rate calculation will be effective after the first instalment due date of 30 September 2024.

We will make reasonable attempts to contact a rate payer about their overdue rates. This may include a reminder notice, debt letter, email, or phone call.
