Rigid plastic bottles and containers can be recycled in your yellow-lidded recycling bin.
Plastic bottles and containers
There are two key exceptions to this rule.
PVC bottles - Red general waste bin
Cottee's cordial bottles and some other products are made from PVC. This form of plastic is not accepted in the household recycling stream and must be put in the red general waste bin. In time, Cottee’s plans to instead use PET plastic to package its products.
Bioplastics - Red general waste bin
Products marketed as 'biodegradable' or 'compostable' are made of different plastics and cannot be recycled in the household recycling bin. These products go in the red general waste bin.
Lids can also be recycled. Make sure your bottles are empty, then reattach the lids before putting them in the recycling bin.
