Take home resources.
The Preparing for Year 7 Checklist is a resource students can use to help prepare for their first day of high school. There are activities students can do autonomously or with family members to assist in managing nerves by feeling organised and prepared ahead of their first day. Students are encouraged to complete this over the summer school holidays.
Moving In Program
With Year 7 students entering secondary school it is important that social connection and engagement with others doesn’t hinder. It is important to further develop these skills as students adjust to their new school environment and addressing in the process that some students may not have the luxury of having their primary school companions.
The Moving In program aims to improve and further establish communication skills and social abilities of Year 7 students. Each weekly activity is different and hopes to channel diverse students based on their interests whether it be physical or socially based activities and games.
The Program will
- Cover a diverse range of activities to get students engaged. From hands on ball activities such as four square and dodge ball to more passive style games such as trivia and table tops the Moving In program caters broad range of interests for students
- Set activities that encourage students to coordinate and cooperate with their peers, through this it can be a catalyst for forming new friendships.
- Through a safe environment focus on assisting students in creating friendships and discovering and expanding social groups/ social bubbles within the new school environment.
