Our Youth Engagement Team is due to re-commence in February 2025 with recruitment for multiple positions currently open! If you are aged 18 to 25, are an active community citizen of Glen Eira, you are encouraged to apply by submitting your expression of interest below.
Youth Engagement Team
The Youth Engagement Team is comprised of up to 20 young people aged 18 to 25 who are active members of the community and want to advocate for the voice of young people in Council matters.
The team meet on a fortnightly basis throughout each term to engage in activities, initiatives and strategies that impact young people, including:
- community engagement activities
- co-designing a youth-friendly engagement toolkit for use across Council
- co-designing an annual Youth Survey and infographics.
The Youth Engagement Team provides a stronger representation to council of the experiences and priorities of young people living in Glen Eira.
Members are provided with training and support them in their role within the team and there are opportunities for members to nominate for leadership roles such as Chair and minute taker. This is a 12-month commitment that will further support your professional development and enable you to network with your peers in a safe environment.

2024 Achievements
In 2024, the Youth Engagement Team accomplished several of its set key initiatives aimed at strengthening community connections and amplifying youth voices:
-
July 2024 - Successfully facilitated discussions during the Community Safety Forum, bringing together key stakeholders and community members to address critical safety concerns.
-
October 2024 - Co-designed and delivered the 2024 Youth Survey, which gathered valuable insights from 464 respondents. The findings, set to be shared in early 2025, will provide a solid evidence base for shaping future youth programming and services.
Throughout the year, the team maintained active engagement with the Mayor, Deputy Mayor, Victoria Police, and various council officers to foster collaborative efforts in supporting our youth.
