Continuing to keep Council meetings safe and inclusive

We want everyone who attends Council meetings to feel safe and included so their voices can be heard.

It’s an important part of how we ensure our community feels heard, and helps us make good, and transparent decisions.

Following on from last year’s heightened security concerns, we have introduced another measure to ensure our Council meetings remain safe for all who attend.

There is now a registration sheet to be signed by anyone attending a Council meeting. This will be available at the entrance of the Council chambers and will need to be signed before attending the meeting.

We will continue to have security officers at Council meetings, as well as the security screening for people accessing the Public Gallery that was introduced late last year.

If you attend a Council meeting, please arrive at least five minutes earlier than usual to allow time for signing in and the security screening.

This approach aligns with similar security procedures at other public spaces in Victoria such as the Victorian Parliament.

Thank you for your understanding as we continue to make our Council meetings and public spaces safe and inclusive for everyone
