We’ve made this decision after the Australian Government changed its policy to allow councils to hold their citizenship ceremonies within three days before or after 26 January. 

We have consulted with our Traditional Owner groups and decided to host our citizenship ceremony on 29 January to maximise participation and inclusion, and ensure it is a day of celebration for all involved — especially our new Australians.  

We hold around 12 citizenship ceremonies each year.  

Council is committed to ensuring all its public events, including citizenship ceremonies, are open and inclusive to all Glen Eira residents.
