Tucker Ward Councillor Anne-Marie Cade was elected Mayor of Glen Eira for the 2023–24 Council year at a Council meeting on Tuesday 21 November.
Cr Cade is serving her second term on Council. She has served as Deputy Mayor in 2022–23 Council year.
Cr Cade said she is deeply honoured to be elected to the role of Mayor and would like to acknowledge and thank her fellow councillor colleagues for placing their trust in her.
She said “I would like to thank our outgoing Mayor Cr Jim Magee for a wonderful two years as Mayor of this City. I have enjoyed supporting you as Deputy Mayor over the past year. I have learnt a lot and it has been a lot of fun too. I am very excited to be part of Glen Eira's first all-female mayor and deputy Mayor team.”
Cr Cade addressed the Councillors saying, “I am looking forward to working with you all to continue the good work we have done over the past three years and continue to build a connected and inclusive community.”
She said she wants to “to keep community cohesion at the forefront of our work across all parts of our municipality. I will work hard with my fellow councillors to continue to build a community where everyone can live safely and happily.”
Cr Cade has lived in Glen Eira for more than 19 years has three children. She ran her own law firm for more than 12 years and now runs a boutique Mediation and Coaching Practice. She is a Lawyer, a Nationally Accredited Mediator, and a Conflict Resolution Specialist. She also works as an Adjunct Lecturer and Mentor at the College of Law and in 2020 was awarded a Churchill Fellowship to study best practice in Parenting Coordination internationally.
Outside work Cr Cade enjoys exercising at the gym, reading a wide range of fiction, walking her dog Kobe and trying out the coffee and cuisine in Glen Eira’s many restaurants.
Camden Ward Councillor Simone Zmood, who is serving her first term on Council, was elected Deputy Mayor for the 2023–24 Council year.

Last week Council approved a shortlist of potential purchasers for its three residential aged care facilities — Spurway, Rosstown and Warrawee.
