Construction of a new cycling pavilion at Packer Park in Carnegie is underway.
The building will be home to the Carnegie Caulfield Cycling Club — one of the largest cycling clubs in Australia with over 600 members.
The new pavilion will support the Club, now in its 101 year, to build junior, social and recreational cycling programs, and host large-scale events.
Club president Linda Hunter said the Packer Park velodrome has been the starting point for many club, state, national, and international cycling champions, including several Olympians.

The modern building will include a club room, storage, bike wash facility, kiosk and accessible toilets.
The building will be powered by 100 per cent renewable energy and the entire roof area will be connected to a 10,000-litre rainwater tank which will service the toilets in the building. Recycled crushed concrete will be used as a base for footpaths.
Mayor Cr Simone Zmood and Deputy Mayor Cr Luca Ragni marked the occasion with Dr Michelle Ananda-Rajah MP, fellow Councillors and members of the Carnegie Caulfield Cycling Club.
Cr Zmood said the new facility would support the community find ways to get outside, be active and stay fit and healthy.
“This facility is an important part of the broader work we’re doing to make sure our recreational facilities and the sports they support are inclusive and accessible, in line with our Pavilion Redevelopment Strategy and Fair Access Policy,” she said.
Construction is due to be completed by January 2026.
