Council has purchased the land at 93 Mimosa Road, Carnegie to create a new local park, bringing more open space and greenery to the community.
This initiative is part of our Open Space Strategy, which aims to make our city more liveable, healthy, and sustainable. Increasing open space improves walkability, enhances streetscapes, and supports community well-being.
This site was secured through a Public Acquisition Overlay, using funds from the Open Space Reserve, ensuring land is set aside for much-needed green space in the area.
Similar projects at Archibald and Gisborne Streets in Elsternwick, and Porter Road in Bentleigh have successfully increased open space and were met with strong local support. We look forward to delivering similar benefits to Carnegie.
To prepare the site safely, the existing house will be removed, and the land will be grassed over as a temporary measure. This ensures an accessible space where the community can relax, connect, and play.
We are committed to expanding access to high-quality open spaces and will continue advocating on behalf of our community for funding.
