Beware misinformation!

We’re aware of misleading, anonymous information circulating and being letterboxed in Glen Eira about smart cities and neighbourhoods where the services you need are close to home. We have not produced or endorsed this information.

We are all flooded with information these days and it is more important than ever to check what is true and valid, and what is misinformation. It helps to ask: where has this come from and is it even true?

Smart cities — the facts

It helps to get the facts. Smart city initiatives help us to improve the services we provide to you. We use a range of digital technologies to help Glen Eira be more liveable, accessible, connected, safe, sustainable and engaged. For example, improving water management with ‘intelligent irrigation’ in public spaces, and technology like Snap, Send, Solve that helps you let us know about issues and problems you see.

We held a series of community engagements in 2021 to hear your thoughts and to help us build our Smart City Roadmap. You can read it on our website and see how we are committed to ethical, collaborative and transparent uses of technology and data in ways that protect privacy and security for all. Personal information is not collected or shared through our smart cities activities.

For more information about smart cities you can read our Smart City Roadmap.
