Students shaping sustainability in Glen Eira

Climate change is a key focus for us — and we know it’s a focus of our community too.

We’re seeking feedback from schools, staff, and students of all ages—from early learning centres and kindergarten through primary and secondary school—about how we can collaborate with schools to drive climate solutions and support children and young people.

We know from our 2024 Youth Survey that young people across Glen Eira are concerned about the environment and their future (ages 10–25).

We want to ensure that the sustainability programs and activities we offer for schools and young people are informative, empowering, and useful. That includes everything from sustainability and climate change to biodiversity, energy efficiency, and more.

We deliver a range of programs and projects that help to reduce our carbon emissions and minimise the impacts of climate change for and with our community. This is in line with Our Climate Emergency Response Strategy 2021–2025 | Dhumbali Wurrungi-Biik Parbin-Ata, the document that guides our climate and sustainability work.

Schools are important local hubs that support young people and families and are vibrant places that connect our community. We’re calling for feedback from school staff and students to share their ideas on how we can work together to support a sustainable and vibrant Glen Eira.

There are a range of ways to get involved and help shape the future of Glen Eira’s sustainability.

Visit Have Your Say for more information, to complete the survey and to check out an upcoming face-to-face pop-up where you can speak to us in person. Survey feedback closes on Sunday 22 December and activity sheets are due by Friday 31 January 2025.
