Support Glen Huntly businesses during tough times

As part of the Victorian Government’s Big Build project, two dangerous and congested level crossings in Glen Eira at Neerim Road and Glenhuntly Road in Glen Huntly are being removed.

With these works, comes disruptions, including the temporary closure of Glenhuntly and Neerim Roads until mid-July. This has had a significant impact on Glen Eira businesses in Glen Huntly.

We encourage the community to continue to shop local and support traders during this challenging time.

Glen Huntly offers a broad range of businesses and services including:

  • Beauty services and hairdressers
  • Cafés and restaurants
  • Grocery stores
  • Dentists, general practitioners, optometrists
  • Physiotherapy, massage and other health services.

The Level Crossing Removal Project (LXRP) are offering support through a number of initiatives for traders.

You can find some of the LXRP’s helpful resources like parking maps and trader directories by visiting the Glen Huntly open for business page.

To support traders, Council is:

  • offering special trader parking permits
  • waiving the footpath trading fee for the year
  • running workshops for the businesses with a retail consultant to identify and enhancement opportunities and techniques for storefronts
  • meeting weekly with the trader’s association.

Making an extra effort to shop at these businesses during construction is an important way to be a good neighbour and support our Glen Eira community through this improvement phase. We look forward to the completion of construction when the businesses can enjoy the full benefits of the lowered rail, including improved foot traffic and parking.
