Council sought community feedback on the first Glen Eira Urban Forest Strategy which was developed to provide a clear and pragmatic action plan aimed at achieving a turnaround in the current trajectory of canopy loss
You said
Community feedback indicated the desire for more trees and higher canopy targets.
We did
Council reviewed and increased the canopy targets while noting the significant challenges involved. Achieving higher canopy coverage will require a collaborative effort from the whole community including State Government, the development community and private landowners. The Urban Forest Strategy was endorsed by Council on 29 June 2021.
