Carnegie Memorial Swimming Pool works update: notification of partial road closure – Lyons Street and Moira Avenue

The next stage of the car park works at Carnegie Memorial Swimming Pool will be along the northern side of Lyons Street and eastern side of Moira Avenue.

To facilitate these works, partial road closures are required for up to eight weeks (weather permitting) from Wednesday 12 June.

Lyons Street

The northern side of Lyons Street, between Moira Avenue and house number 64 Lyons Street (directly outside the Pool), will be closed to eastbound traffic. Westbound traffic will not be impacted.

Two-way traffic will remain from house number 66 Lyons Street to Koornang Road. Drivers will not be able to enter Lyons Street westbound from Moira Avenue and will need to enter from Koornang Road.

Temporary ‘No Stopping – Anytime’ parking restrictions will be installed on the southern side of Lyons Street adjacent to the works area. These parking restrictions will be installed from Moria Avene to the house boundary between 66-68 Lyons Street. Residents will still be able to use their driveways during these works and rubbish bin collection will not be impacted.

Moira Avenue

The eastern side of Moira Avenue, between Lyons Street and Munro Avenue, will be closed to southbound traffic. Northbound traffic will not be impacted. The western side of Moria Avenue along Lord Reserve will remain as ‘No Stopping - Anytime.’

Traffic management and detour signs will be installed on Tuesday 11 June, with the roads closing and works commencing on Wednesday 12 June. Works are due to take eight weeks to complete (weather permitting).

Thank you for your patience during these works and we apologise for any inconvenience.

Changes to on-site parking

An estimated 25 to 35 large construction vehicles will enter and exit the site each day. Efforts will be made to avoid peak traffic periods.

Demolition and civil works to the site carpark are still taking place and ADCO contractors will continue to park their vehicles off-site.

The estimated number of vehicles to park off-site is between 35–55 on weekdays and 20–30 on Saturdays. Contractors have been advised to park in the Koornang Park off street carpark adjacent to Koornang Oval, off Munro Avenue. On Saturdays, contractors will split parking requirements between the Koornang Oval off-street carpark and the southern side of Munro Avenue towards the Lord Reserve Pavilion, to allow parking for other users of the oval. This section of the street will also be used during the week if the Koornang Oval off-street carpark is full.

Contractors have been directed to avoid parking on Lyons Street and other side streets at all times.
