Social support
Our Social Support Program provides older people and people with disabilities with opportunities for friendship and social activities in a supportive environment. The program aims to cater for the particular needs of the group.
Who is it for?
Our social support program is ideal for:
- older people
- people with a disability
- carers of the above.
What activities do we run?
Some of our activities include:
- gentle exercises
- strength training
- music therapy
- creative art
- active games
- walking groups
- discussion groups
- cooking
- gardening
- bus outings.
How much does it cost?
Leila Road Centre Carnegie provides interest-based activities on-site (transport is provided):
- Low fee: $25 per day
- Medium fee: $35 per day
- High fee: $50 per day
Exercise classes at community locations in the municipality:
- Low fee: $6 per day
- Medium fee: $15 per day
- High fee: $20 per day
Exercise transport (limited places):
- $5 one way
Weekly excursion program delivered each term. Chargers are based on activities provided.
Excursion transport:
- $10 round trip
The cost varies according to your financial income.

* A per kilometre rate of $1 is charged for any service that requires travel. In a few instances a higher fee may be charged. This will be determined at the time of accepting a referral.
Please note: we require at least one business day's notice for a service cancellation and if this is not received, the usual fee will apply.
Accessing the service
The way you access our social support service depends on your age.
If you're over 65
Visit the My Aged Care website or call them on 1800 200 422, and get a referral to our aged care services.
If you're under 65
Call Bayside Care and Support on 1300 870 344 to see what services you can access.
How is it funded?
These services are paid for by the Australian Government's Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) and Victorian Government's Home and Community Care Program for Younger People (HACC-PYP).
