It’s an exciting time for electric vehicles in Australia, with more charging stations and a larger range of models.
Council recently added two new electric vehicles to its fleet. Bev is a Hyundai Ioniq and Zoe is a Renault Zoe.
A charging station has been installed at Glen Eira Town Hall which uses renewable energy from Town Hall’s solar panels.
Glen Eira Mayor Cr Margaret Esakoff said the electric vehicles will be used by Council officers throughout the municipality. "The range of 300 kilometres is suited to an urban environment and our operational needs," she said.
"Electrifying our fleet is just one way that we’ll meet our ambitious new target of zero net emissions for Council operations by 2025."
There are now 28 electric vehicle passenger models in Australia. By the end of 2021 it’s expected another six models will be available.

Despite reported issues with SKM recycling facilities and major disruptions in the recycling industry, Council’s recycling service remains unaffected and recyclables from our waste services are not going to landfill.
