Council has been successful in securing funding to upgrade Bentleigh East Kindergarten.
Council has been successful in securing funding to upgrade Bentleigh East Kindergarten.
Announced today by Member for Bentleigh Nick Staikos, $350,000 has been provided through the State Government’s 2018–19 Children’s Facilities Capital Program.
Glen Eira Mayor Cr Tony Athanasopoulos said in 2015 Council commissioned a review of all community kindergartens operating from Council-owned land.
“This review identified Bentleigh East Kindergarten as an ageing facility in need of refurbishment, with considerable land available at the site to expand the building footprint,” he said.
Cr Athanasopoulos thanked the State Government for the generous contribution.
“There is ongoing demand for kindergarten places in the Bentleigh East area, which has the highest number of children aged four and under,” he said.
“The funding will contribute to the expansion of the existing play room, increasing the number of places available from 27 to 33.
“The staff office areas and entry foyer will also be refurbished and additional toilets will be provided, along with a new disability toilet and ramp access.”
