Glen Eira Mayor Cr Margaret Esakoff said the ratio of one educator to four preschool children assists in creating a small group environment that contributes to secure, warm and trusting relationships.

“All educators plan a quality play-based program based on children’s strengths, knowledge, ideas, cultures, abilities and interests,” she said.

Successful applicants must have Certificate III in Children’s Services or be willing to obtain one and be prepared to undergo extensive checks to ensure suitability, including a safety assessment of their home.

All educators are contractors to Council and therefore are provided with ongoing support from the co-ordination unit. Hourly fees are set by the educators in consultation with the co-ordination unit.
