Glen Eira City Council is seeking feedback on its Planning Scheme Amendment for the East Village precinct.
The new precinct, which runs from North Road to Virginia Park in Bentleigh East, was once an important industrial area that has seen the departure of many large-scale manufacturing businesses in recent years. Council and the Victorian Planning Authority have been working in partnership to explore opportunities for revitalising the precinct, including a range of housing, community open spaces, as well as contemporary and innovative businesses that will continue to provide local employment. This will be guided by the East Village Structure Plan which was adopted by Council in 2018.
For this vision to be realised, the local planning controls for Glen Eira need to be changed. This formal process is called a Planning Scheme Amendment, which we are now seeking feedback on.
Submissions can be made online or via mail. The community members are also invited to come along to the following drop-in sessions to have their questions answered about the Amendment:
Both sessions will be held at Packer Park Pavilion, 120 Leila Road, Carnegie
The opportunity to provide feedback closes on Wednesday 9 October 2019.

Despite reported issues with SKM recycling facilities and major disruptions in the recycling industry, Council’s recycling service remains unaffected and recyclables from our waste services are not going to landfill.
