New solar program for pensioners

The Solar Savers program is helping Glen Eira pensioners to install solar with no upfront costs.

The Solar Savers program is helping Glen Eira pensioners to install solar with no upfront costs.

The program has taken the hard work out of finding an affordable and trustworthy solar installer so that households can be confident they are getting a quality solar system for their home.

Glen Eira Mayor Cr Jamie Hyams said Glen Eira has joined 24 other councils from across Victoria to promote the new program.

“Participating households can gradually pay for their panels with a low-interest bank loan over 10 years,” he said.

“At the same time, power bill savings will more than cover the cost of loan repayments so that every household will be at least $100 ahead at the end of each year.

“Alternatively residents can self-fund the installation.”

To participate in the Solar Savers program, you must own your home, have a Government Pension Card (eg. aged or disability) and not currently have solar panels at your home.
