Nominations for Council’s 2019 Volunteer Recognition Program are now open.
Not-for-profit community-based organisations are invited to nominate volunteers in one of the seven following categories: 500, 1,000 or 2,000 hours of service or 10, 20, 30 or 40 years of continuous voluntary service.
Award recipients will be announced at an event during National Volunteers Week (18–24 May).
Glen Eira Mayor Margaret Esakoff said people of all ages and backgrounds give their time, talents, gifts and hearts to improve the quality of community life and build a stronger and more cohesive community.
“We need your help to celebrate and recognise our volunteers and their contribution to the health and wellbeing of our local community,” she said.
Nominations can be completed online at www.gleneira.vic.gov.au/vr
Please obtain permission from the volunteers you intend to nominate. Nominations close on Friday 6 March.

Despite reported issues with SKM recycling facilities and major disruptions in the recycling industry, Council’s recycling service remains unaffected and recyclables from our waste services are not going to landfill.
