The Greens promise $10 million funding contribution for Carnegie Memorial Swimming Pool

Greens candidate for Higgins, Sonya Semmens has today announced that a Greens led Federal Government will commit $10 million towards the $52 million redevelopment of Carnegie Memorial Swimming Pool.

Ms Semmens joined fellow Green and candidate for Macnamara Steph Hodgins-May and Glen Eira Mayor Cr Jim Magee at the pool today to make the announcement, saying it will be a place that sits in childhood memories for years to come.

Mayor Magee said Council is committed to delivering this project with a 6 Star Green Star rating, in-line with Council’s recent climate emergency declaration and commitment to achieving net zero emissions by 2025.

“This is exactly what our community has been asking for. A pool that is modern, for all-abilities, and sustainable. It’s about our community, our environment, and our future,” he said.

“The high level of community support has helped to secure this funding, and we are extremely pleased that the outcome will deliver such significant, long-term benefit.”
